Database Administrator

Job description Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team at GISTEC. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database management, networking, and server administration. This role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience and a proven ability to ensure the performance, integrity, and security of our database systems. Key Responsibilities: Manage and maintain databases, including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based database solutions. Develop, test, and implement efficient SQL queries and scripts for data retrieval, transformation, and deployment. Monitor database performance and proactively resolve issues to ensure availability and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems quickly and effectively. Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning. Understand and support integration via basic API services. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application and data integration needs. Maintain security and access control policies across all database environments. Configure and manage Windows Server services including LDAP, DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority (CA), IIS, etc. Provide support for network-related issues (Routing & Switching, Firewalls, Load Balancers, and network communication rules and policies). Document processes, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for internal knowledge sharing. Requirements: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Strong proficiency in SQL and database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud-hosted databases. Good understanding of basic API service concepts. Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems. Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Proven experience in managing server and network infrastructure components.
