Job description JD: Design Engineer Job Description Summary Design Engineer will drive New Product Development (NPD), support Manufacturing team to resolve design related issues, providing expertise to team on manufacturing processes. This position requires understanding of Engineering concepts, Manufacturing process including Sheet metal, Plastics & Machining. Roles and Responsibilities Lead New Product Development (NPD) projects providing end to end support to our client right from scoping through Design / Prototype / Qualification / Pilot run until production launch involving in Technical review / Manufacturing review / Sourcing review / Safety review. Hands on experience in 3D design software Autodesk Inventor & SolidWorks. Hands-on experience in design & manufacturing of Sheet metal part. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), Tolerance stackup analysis during design stage. Perform Design Failure Mode & Effect Analysis (DFMEA). Drive Design for manufacturing (DFM)” and “Design for Assembly (DFA)”. Coordinate with Onsite design team on technical matters to meet project Specification & Schedule. Develop Bills of Material (BOM) & documents for design. Apply Value engineering concept during design stage. Knowledge on Material Selection for product based on application. Required Qualifications BE Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited 4-year university or college. 4 to 6 year’s experience in Product Design & Manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Strong leadership skills with pro-active approach Knowledge of Lean Principles, Six Sigma and Kaizen Excellent communication, presentation, and technical writing skills Fluent in English Desired Characteristics Established project management skills. Takes strong Initiative, highly proactive, Self-starter, Result oriented, analytical, and able to multi-task. Good at Decision making. Strong customer focus approach.
