Job description Job Title: Key Responsibilities: Automation System Design and Implementation: a. Design, configure, and implement automation systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including filling, packaging, and labeling systems. Ensure automation systems integrate smoothly with existing production equipment. Develop and optimize control systems, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) setups. Process Optimization and Troubleshooting: Monitor and improve automated systems for efficiency, speed, and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automated machinery and control systems. Work closely with maintenance teams to ensure minimal downtime and operational continuity. Compliance with Regulatory Standards: Ensure all automated systems meet regulatory standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA guidelines, and other industry-specific standards. Prepare and support audits, providing documentation and reports on automation processes and system validations. Assist in creating and executing qualification and validation protocols for automation systems (e.g., IQ/OQ/PQ). System Upgrades and Maintenance: Plan and manage upgrades to automation systems to ensure they remain state-of-the-art and compliant. Perform regular maintenance and calibrations on automated equipment. Implement backup and recovery procedures for automation systems to ensure data integrity and minimize system failures. Collaboration and Communication: Work with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth operations. Train and mentor operators and technicians on the use of automated systems and troubleshooting procedures. Communicate effectively with vendors for system support and service contracts. Data Management and Reporting: Collect and analyze data from automated systems to generate reports on performance, production yields, and health systems. Use data to suggest improvements in system efficiency and manufacturing processes. Project Management: Lead or participate in automation projects from inception to completion, ensuring that deadlines and budgets are met. Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to implement new automation solutions. Qualifications: Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Experience: 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation, with a preference for experience in pharmaceutical or life sciences industries. Skills: a. Expertise in PLC programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, etc.), SCADA, DCS, and HMI systems. Knowledge of automation hardware, sensors, actuators, and control systems. Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry regulations (GMP, FDA, ISPE, etc.). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Experience with project management and cross-functional team collaboration. Desirable Skills: Experience in pharmaceutical process validation (IQ/OQ/PQ). Knowledge of data integrity principles (21 CFR Part 11). Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) or ERP systems in a pharmaceutical setting. AutoCAD knowledge and experience . Working Conditions: Typically based in a manufacturing facility. May require periodic travel to vendor sites or other facilities. Shift work or on-call availability may be required depending on the operational needs. Personal Traits: Strong attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse teams. Continuous learning attitude to stay updated with new automation technologies and regulatory requirements.
