Job description About the Role: BHIM is on a mission to expand its user base and transaction volumes through strategic partnerships with merchants and banks. The Head of Partnerships will be responsible for driving adoption of the BHIM Merchant Plugin for UPI and BHIM UPI PSP solutions for banks. This role requires a deep understanding of the Indian payments ecosystem, including UPI, merchant payment solutions, and banking operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical grasp of payment infrastructure, the ability to work closely with partners to solve challenges, and the strategic mindset to scale adoption. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Partnerships & Business Growth Develop and execute strategies to onboard merchants onto the BHIM Merchant Plugin, ensuring seamless UPI adoption. Partner with banks to integrate BHIM's UPI PSP solution, expanding BHIMs reach through bank-led UPI services. Identify key banking and merchant partners, build relationships, and negotiate win-win agreements. Work cross-functionally with product, technology, and operations teams to ensure smooth partner onboarding and integration. Drive initiatives to scale user acquisition and transaction volumes through partner networks. Product & Solutioning Understand technical and operational pain points of banks and merchants, collaborating with internal teams to build effective solutions. Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure BHIM's solutions are competitive and address partner needs. Stay updated on NPCI guidelines, regulatory changes, and technological advancements in UPI and digital payments. Ecosystem Engagement & Advocacy Represent BHIM in industry forums, discussions with NPCI, and key fintech/banking events. Work with government bodies, financial institutions, and industry players to drive BHIM’s adoption. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design incentive programs for partner banks and merchants. Key Requirements: Education & Experience Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance/Tech/Payments preferred). 6+ years of experience in payments, banking, fintech, or UPI ecosystem. Prior experience in partnerships, business development, or product strategy in payments. Strong understanding of UPI infrastructure, merchant payment solutions, and banking technology. Skills & Competencies Payments & Banking Knowledge: Deep understanding of UPI, NPCI frameworks, and digital payment trends. Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage and influence senior leadership in banks, merchants, and fintechs. Enterprise Solutioning: Ability to work with partners to identify technical and business challenges and create solutions. Project & Partner Management: Experience handling large-scale partnerships and integrations. Data-Driven Decision Making: Ability to analyze data to track adoption, identify bottlenecks, and drive strategic changes. This role is pivotal in BHIM’s mission to scale digital payments across India by fostering strong relationships with merchants and banks.
